The Whelk Shell
This whimsical paper‑model cabin draws inspiration from the indigenous Apalachee people of the Tallahassee region, who engaged in rituals involving whelk shells. The structure is imagined as a woodland retreat, intimately integrated with its natural surroundings—a nod to Apalachee reverence for land, ritual, and craft. Crafted entirely from paper, the piece highlights the material’s tactile fragility and handmade character, reflecting both the ephemeral and enduring qualities of nature and culture.
